About me.

Dan Beaver at World Café Live in Philadelphia, PA.
From an early age I’ve always had a fascination with sound. The ability to create a unique and personal sound through exploring the variables inherent in musical instruments has been a passion spanning over 15 years for me. I’ve owned over a hundred guitars of all makes, and worked on thousands of different guitars with vastly different specifications and idiosyncrasies.
I began making pickups for my own stringed instruments because I wanted to pursue a sound that I couldn’t find on the market anywhere else. Once I got started, I immediately started getting requests from musicians I met locally and online.
Whether it’s making mandolin and banjo pickups from scratch to building a foot long pickup for an experimental string instrument, I’m open to any project. I can repair and rewind any existing pickup for electric guitar with the exception of some pickups that are sealed in epoxy (EMG, Bartolini and certain vintage Gibson pickups).
My specialty is making underwound humbucker style pickups. I use a certain combination of magnets and wire that can pull Gretsch-like chime out of a standard humbucker. I wind these much lower than most humbuckers that are available on the market and the result is a bright, clear, musical tone without the muddiness of a typical factory humbucker.
All the pickups are hand wound by me in Perkasie, Bucks County, PA.
